Working With Me

A strong client/therapist alliance has been shown to be one of the most important factors in healing by a large number of studies. I would be happy to offer a free consultation to see if we are a good fit and discuss how I can assist you on your journey towards greater life satisfaction. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families struggling with parenting. I offer highly structured trauma therapy based in desensitizing and reprocessing negative past events, but many clients prefer a looser structure, with a focus on finding meaning and building on natural supports and strengths.

For nine years, I worked in educational and behavioral programs for children and adolescents with emotional disturbances, behavioral issues and learning disabilities. I became convinced that to be effective, interventions should address the whole family. I returned to school for my Master’s in social work and began developing an interest in trauma treatment and working with family structures. I began facilitating groups for survivors of sexual abuse with Yes I Can and eventually was tapped to supervise other facilitators. I began interning in Child Welfare and was hired by Los Angeles Children and Family Services as an emergency response social worker. In this role, I have been privileged to assist families in creating strength and solution focused plans to quickly address individual and family functioning. Through this work, I learned of a powerful therapy modality for addressing the roots of trauma, EMDR, and completed training and consultation to become fully qualified as an EMDRIA provider.

I believe that by combining empathy with a focus on results, I can assist my clients on a journey to greater control over behaviors, self-esteem, and life satisfaction. I pride myself in, as Irvin Yalom says, “Creating a new therapy for each client”. I look forward to collaborating with you.
